 Context: The writer was travelling by train and was left alone in the carriage as all other passengers had alighted from it. He has described his fellow-traveller as a mosquito.


 Explanation: The writer says that travelling in a carriage, all alone, which is moving alone jerkily at night making much noise is a unique experience. It gives you the pleasure of personal liberty. This liberty is altogether unchecked and is in fact very pleasing. You are free to do whatever you like.

Explanation: The writer could not kill the mosquito. Now he started having a kind feeling for mosquitoes. his sense of superiority began to disappear gradually. He felt that the mosquito had an equal right to be in the compartment. It had an equal right to live and enjoy. So the writer now decided to be generous and kind to the mosquito.

Explanation: In these lines, the writer says that life is a great miracle of nature. Nobody knows exactly about his life. The beginning and end of our life both are a mystery. All the creatures on his earth are fellow-travelers. None is superior or inferior. We take birth but don’t know from where we have come. We struggle hard for our life in this world for a short period. Then we go away from this world but do not know where we have to go. This is the journey of our life.
